The individual selected will be responsible to perform technical building inspection work in enforcing compliance with building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes, regulations and ordinances; to work with developers, contractors and architects to maintain code compliance and resolve problems relating to code compliance; and to provide technical assistance to the Building Official. Successful applicant needs sufficient knowledge of modern and complex principles and practices of all phases and methods of building construction; building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes and ordinances enforced by the city; Materials used in construction and appropriate application techniques; building construction practices, procedures, methods and materials; methods and techniques of building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical inspection work; accepted safety standards and methods of building construction for commercial, industrial and residential buildings; basic practices of municipal law as it applies to building inspections; principles of structural design and engineering; building permit application process; modern office procedures, methods and equipment; and pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations including building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes. Successful applicant needs sufficient knowledge of operational characteristics, services and activities of a comprehensive building inspection program, modern and complex principles and practices of all phases and methods of building construction, methods and techniques of building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical inspection work, and building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes and ordinances enforced by the city. Applicant should have ten years of responsible experience as an architect, engineer, building inspector, contractor or construction experience including five years of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical and Building Inspectors license issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board and possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, building official certification.
