Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over (ADA, OKLAHOMA/March 10, 2023) ? Local law enforcement agencies urge everyone to drink responsibly this St. Patrick?s Day (Friday, March 17). According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), from 2016 to 2020, 287 lives were lost in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick?s Day period. The Ada Police Department, along with Lighthorse Police, the Sheriff?s Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are working together next Friday night as a DUI enforcement team. Officers will be diligent in stopping any vehicle that appears to have a drunk driver at the wheel. ?Please remember, Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. If you plan to drink this St. Patrick?s Day, plan ahead for a safe way home,? said Sgt. Mike Meeks with the Ada Police Department. ?Unfortunately, one night of drinking can lead to deadly consequences if you choose to get behind the wheel.? The NHTSA encourages everyone to: * Never let a friend drive drunk. Arrange a safe and sober way for them to get home. * If you?re the designated driver, don?t drink. * Don?t ride in a vehicle with someone that has been drinking. * If you see a drunk driver on the road, contact local law enforcement to report the driver (580.332.4466).
