To perform Code Enforcement and Building Inspector duties within the Community Development Division and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Inspect industrial, commercial and residential buildings and structures during various stages of construction or repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. Maintain inspection reports documenting code compliance or violation detailing deficiency of work and necessary improvements; prepare correspondence to homeowners, contractors, and others in violation of codes and ordinances; conduct follow-up inspections. Inspect structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing building components. Maintain files and reports regarding inspection activities including permit records; research past files to investigate the status of construction projects; compile and maintain pertinent information related to existing construction projects. Conducts field work and inspects properties, structures, and vacant lots to ensure compliance with applicable zoning and nuisance codes, property maintenance requirements, ordinances and regulations, and performs follow-up inspections as necessary. Training equivalent to an associate's degree in construction related field or 4-5 years of building inspector or construction trade and code knowledge. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Inspector licenses issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
