Based on a true story, teenage surfer, Bethany Hamilton, enjoys the waves with her friends at every opportunity. One day, Bethany is surfing when a tiger shark sinks its teeth into her left arm, severing it at the shoulder. Bethany miraculously survives, and quickly becomes the target of worldwide paparazzi. After an internal struggle with her handicap, Bethany returns to surfing. Bethany embraces her challenges and strives to become a role model for others.
