Glenwood Park improvements another emphasis of the ?Penny for our City? Sales Tax Extension (ADA, OKLAHOMA/March 29, 2023) ? On May 9, citizens of Ada will once again have the opportunity to invest in Ada by making improvements to Glenwood Park. Voters are not being asked to increase the city sales tax rate. The rate would stay the same. Upgrades to Glenwood Park will include adding new playground equipment, a new pavilion, bathroom facilities, rehabbing the WPA drainage channel that runs the length of the park, new fencing, and safer sidewalks on the south side of the park. ?Visitors to the park already enjoy the Glenwood Aquatic Center and the Splash Pad. With the upgrades, they can have a picnic under a brand-new pavilion and watch their children have fun on the new playground, said Parks Superintendent Mickey Landry. ?This is what the Penny Sales tax is all about, improving quality of life for everyone.? Voters have invested more than $52 million dollars in Ada since 2010 by voting for the ?Penny for our City? and the Penny for Our City? Sales Tax Extension. Because of this, Ada is home to a new police and fire station, the Irving Community/Senior Center, two aquatic centers (Wintersmith and Glenwood), the Ada Sports Complex, and a renovated Ada Main Street. ?Glenwood Park is another historic park built in Ada in 1937. Families have enjoyed this park for more than 85 years,? stated Ada resident Amy Kaiser. ?By investing in its future now and taking care of it, visitors will be able to enjoy it for years to come.? The ?Penny for our City? extension election is May 9, 2023.
