In honor of Earth Day Ada, Okla. - The Chickasaw Nation Office of Environmental Services will host a document shredding and recycling event at the ReUse center, located at 2205 N. Broadway in Ada, on Friday, April 24. A shredding truck will be onsite from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until full) to immediately shred documents for recycling. This event is free and open to the public, with businesses welcome. Among items accepted for shredding are: manila folders and files, paper and envelopes of any color or grade, sticky notes, note pads, surveys, blue prints, financial records, junk mail or any other paper document. The ReUse Center will also be open that day to accept new and gently used household items and building materials for redistribution to the community. Regular hours for the ReUse center, which is open to the public, are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Private companies and individuals are encouraged to drop off reusable items and clothing that would otherwise go to the landfill. Expired prescription drugs are not accepted at this event, though they can be very harmful to the environment when not properly discarded.
